Compulsory car insurance

CMTPL is the compulsory insurance of civil liability of motor vehicle owners.

If you are at fault for a road traffic accident, the insurance company will compensate the losses of the injured party.

All owners and drivers of motor vehicles are required to insure their liability in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 446-II dated July 01, 2003 “On compulsory insurance of civil liability of motor vehicle owners.” Driving a car without a compulsory insurance policy entails a penalty in the amount of 10 MCI.

The issuing of CMTPL policy must be carried out in a reliable insurance company with the appropriate license. According to the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, about half of all insurance payments in the country are made by Halyk Insurance Company.
